Motability car on order, but have had a non fault accident....
Hi there,
We've got a motability on order for my mum. Initially we did application and declared current claims and the like on the application.
My dad had 2 at fault accidents in the last 5 years and I had 0, in our own cars.
Fast forward to the last couple of weeks, I've had a non fault accident in my own car in which the other driver rear ended me. Claim is all going through fine, 3rd party admitted fault and car is in for repairs.
My question is, the motability lease has not started yet for my mum as we've not received the car yet, but we've not notified Motability about this either.
When do we need to let them know by? is it straight away or when we collect the car?
What is the likelihood of them refusing to insure us? The 2 at fault claims that are in my dads name were already declared at application, but the non fault which I've had is not yet reported to them as its still ongoing.
Does motability reject you if there are too many claims on the drivers names? Or do they just look at each driver individually? Can this non fault affect my ability to be insured on the vehicle especially if its an non fault? Whats their general criteria for things like this?
Thanks!

Direct Line motability Insurance would look at your driving history, endorsements and convictions. I would say it's unlikely that it would affect your ability to drive the vehicle BUT nonetheless you should still report the incident and you should do this before you drive the vehicle.
My daughter had a non fault accident about 4 years ago and we reported this to motability for my insurance and it didn't affect her ability to continue to be named driver on my insurance. Hope this helps.
