UC and on online platform advice.

I was wondering if you can help me. I’ve been reading a lot online about online platforms im abit confused about it all as I’ve sold over 30 items on there over the pass 5 months like clothes, toys , dvds , books , kids clothes and unwanted gifts and I’ve sold them for a lot less then what I paid them for so I’m not making any profit. Vinted has submitted this to HMRC . I’m in receipt of LWRCA and universal credit , I was wondering if I should ring universal credit or put a note on my journal to tell them about vinted ? All this is making my anxiety bad and there is so many different opinions out there some say you should tell u/c and some say you don’t have too.. just want some clarity on it. Hope you can help?

If you were selling personal items then UC don't need to know.
If you were buying to sell on then that would be different.

thanks for giving me some clarity on it. It’s been giving me bad anxiety which doesn't help my other health conditions. The money I got from vinted it helps me pay bills & other household things. I was just getting mixed information from different things I was reading online and just wasn’t too sure what to do so just reach out on here . Also if you can our you able to answer this - do you know from what I’ve been reading some people our say they’ve been contacted by u/c because of vinted or other online platforms earnings? And also The amount I earned from selling my personal belongings and personal possessions didn’t go over £1000 either as that’s figure is what I’ve been reading aswell not to sure what that’s about.

Selling personal items will not affect your UC as kimmy has advised. How do you know that vinted contacted HMRC?

There are new rules about the platforms like eBay, Vinted etc reporting to HMRC

Sorry I just get all worried about things and it effects my mental health but thank you for clarifying it for me aswell.
sorry what I met was that I’ve read a post online (Facebook) from someone who posted in there u/c journal as they wanted to know how much they our allowed to earn a year selling seconded hand items before they must declare it. The agent reply to her was you will need to report you our self employed and then we can capture any income and outgoings you have every month and she was earning under the £1000.

Oh dear, it's Facebook again, it's not usual for a lot of misleading information to be given on there. All I can advise about that is to leave the group and don't return.

As I said for UC purposes selling your own personal items isn't of interest (unless you go over £6000 in capital). Self employed etc only comes into it if you are trading that is buying to sell on.

I was wondering if you have a minute just answer one more question for me . I’ve been in Receipt of LWRCA for 18 months do you know if I get a re assesment at all as they didn’t state this on the letter when I got awarded?

thanks again for clarifying it for me much appreciated.

The award is ongoing until such a time as you are found to have LCW or fit for work.
There will be a reassessment date on the system but it's only a guide, as they can re assess at any time.
Significant backlogs exist within the system anyway, the vast majority of LCWRA reviews have been suspended for several years.
