Mobility scheme

Looking for some advice on how the mobility scheme works and how long it takes. If anyone could help I would appreciate it.

You need to be claiming either Enhanced mobility PIP/ADP or high rate mobility DLA to join the scheme.
You exchange the mobility payments for a vehicle of your choice. The only thing you pay for is your fuel. There are some vehicles that you need to pay an advance payment before collecting your car.
How long it takes will depend on the dealership waiting times, they are all different. It also depends on the make, model and spec of the vehicle you choose.

There are age restrictions on some of the vehicles. If you're under the age of 25 you are restricted to a BHP of 120 or less, so please be aware of that. It will give you all that information next to all the vehicles if you search for them on their website.

I was 22 weeks for my current car, which i got last November. I could have received it in half that, but didn't want any of the garish colour schemes!

For my current car it only took 5 weeks from ordering to collecting and I collected it on 28th December. It did help that the factory they build them is in the UK.

I didn't think to mention but my car was made in South Africa. It makes sense to look for one made here if you are in a hhurry.

I didn't choose my car because I was in a hurry. I chose it because I loved it. It's a Nissan Juke, such a lovely car to drive too.

All right, I'll whisper it. I got a VW Polo GTI. Too low down and boot too small for the dog, but it makes me feel alive. Get some funny looks when I get out the motor and into the CoOp with my rollator!

Ohh I love it!! They are probably jealous due to the car you have. 😂 Mine is the 1.0 litre because my daughter drives it and she's not 25 until next January so I was limited with my choices.
My previous car was a Toyota Corolla which was also low down and a small boot so I know what you mean about that. My new car makes it so much easier to get in and out of.

And I bet the Daily Mail would have a field day if they knew about cars like that on Motability.
My first car was a 1984 Polo 1.0, it seems fitting that maybe the last one is a Polo.
I had a Corolla 1.8 auto on a B plate (1985) as recently as 2014.

Oh wow... I'm a huge car fan my partner has a Golf Edition 30. Thank you both for your help. I get enhanced for both just waiting for the award letter and see after that.

The Polo GTI I got is probably the same size, if not bigger than a Mk 1 Golf. Blooming faster anyway!

I saw a 54 plate VW Phaeton 6.0 for sale, it was about 440bhp. The thing is, for all the grunt, it was still slower than my car.
If you had £80,000 for a motor, would it be a VW? (What Phaeton cost new).
I think a Chevrolet Corvette circa1971 would do me!

What were the garish colour schemes? Have they bought back the Harlequin Edition. Most of the new cars I see are in drab boring colours. 🙁

This was last June, so i forget. It wasn't the car colour, it was the interior. I am not kean on a bright red dash!

I know they used to have the Mini JCW on motability, I don't know if they still have it. Lovely car but no longer suitable for me, sadly.

Now that is low down. Probably unsuitable for most of us here!
The thing is, I had to pay a large sum to the dealer, well, Barclaycard did. This is a one-off, will be back to sensible if I even get another car. My mobility is fine most of the time.
