Housing Benefit to UC

Hi there.
I’m in the process of migrating from HB to UC.
I’ve been on ESA & DLA for many years and also receive a private pension after retiring from work early due to ill health.
On HB they always took the net pension amount into consideration but I’ve been told on UC it is the Gross amount, is this correct?
It doesn’t seem fair that the tax I pay is also deducted from my UC entitlement!

For UC a pension is treated as "other income" and will be deducted in full from any UC entitlement. The same rules apply for Income Related ESA.
If any of your UC is contributions based, this will revert to New Style ESA but will also be deducted in full from any UC entitlement.
If you're worse off when you migrate across then your UC will include Transitional Protection so you won't be worse off at point of migration.

Hi @GrebB71, it looks like Poppy's already answered your question but I just wanted to say a quick hello and welcome you to the community. Hope your transition goes smoothly 😊
