I got a letter saying I need to claim Universal Credit by May 5, 2025. I receive ESA support group, and a top-up for severely disabled . I was just wondering how the process all works and is it easy to do? I would also like to know if I need to do an assessment before I move over to UC.?

You won't need an assessment, you will be entitled to LCWRA which is the UC equivalent of ESA Support Group automatically from the beginning of your claim, though it often takes a few weeks for ESA to confirm your status with UC.
Citizens Advice have a Help to Claim service
The forum also has a Universal Credit section where you can read through the experiences of others who have been, or are going through, the process themselves.
