Housing, Affordable

Hi. My name is Gosia. Unfortunately, I'm stuck at home with an Ex/emotionally immature person and narcissistic disorders. Violent abouse to racist comments have been around for a long time. Because I have depression and other illnesses, it prevents me from taking up a job. My question is about renting a house with Affordable housing. Can I be registered by a company from the European Union and is there a limit on the hours to be worked or mimimum income?3

I have heard you have to be working 25 hours to be taken seriously! It is not very clear what yardstick is used to assess and evaluate. It is hit or miss depends on the Assessor???

Hi @netgos,
It sounds like you're in the middle of a very difficult and unsafe situation. From what you’ve said, I’d encourage you to reach out to organisations that can help. You can contact Refuge (0808 2000 247, available 24/7) or Women’s Aid, who can provide immediate advice and support. If you’re in danger, please call 999.
On the housing side, affordable housing in the UK is usually accessed through local councils or housing associations. You can apply for council housing even if you’re not currently working, though priority is often given to those in unsafe situations. Shelter (0808 800 4444) can give you advice on your rights and options.
As for employment and registration with an EU-based company, the rules around working hours and minimum income can be complex, especially post-Brexit. If you're looking into Universal Credit or housing benefits, the Citizens Advice can help you figure out how your situation affects eligibility.
