hi all

My original pip claim was 3 years and runs out next month, I received the review form and returned before the august date they wanted it by

I kept receiving txt telling me they still had my form, and that I will be paid until a new decision is made

This morning I received a letter telling me my original claim is extended til march next year, I know that I can still be reviewed next month or upto then, but did they really need to write to me and tell me when they could have just txt like they’ve been doing

Never thought about the official element, I was thinking waste of money sending me a letter

The letter can be very useful for many people. There's so many people that are automatically entitled to a blue badge through a PIP award and BB end dates are often linked to a PIP claim ending so people would need to reapply for their BB. I used this very same letter to go with the actual PIP breakdown award letter to prove that I was still claiming PIP mobility.

Your award will be extended up to March 2026 but any new decision made on the review will overrule your current award.

Thank you poppy, that makes sense with regards to the blue badge

Catherine, did you receive your letter today

No problem. I had the same letter back in June last year and then had my decision in mid October. No assessment was needed for me.

I totally forgot about PIP and blue badge as I never got one as they said I wasn’t entitled, that’s great you never needed an assessment i wish mine would be paper based but no chance 😂

Paper based assessments are becoming more common these days for PIP reviews so never, say never. I thought the same this time because my last review was also paper based in 2021 but there you go, I had another.

The extra 1 year was only because a decision hasn't been made on their review yet. Those letters are sent out about 35 days before your award is due to end, if no decision has been made by that time.

There are extremely long delays and some are waiting about a year for a decision. In the meantime your PIP award will continue until a decision is made on your review.

Yeah poppy beat me to it, I dont think you have a decision yet, they extended to make sure your payments dont stop in the mean time.
