UC cpital "deprivation"

DWP are not pushing anyone to take the loan. They are just saying that they won't pay the UC money if you don't take the student loan that is available to everyone in the same circumstances. It's subtle but there is a difference between those two things.
I can't find the exact legislation on this now but there is a clause about not accepting money that you are offered or entitled to (or words to that effect). You are considered to be depriving yourself of that money in order to claim, or increase, entitlement to a means tested benefit.

I know the fear is unbearable. I used to drink and do other things recreationally but stopped that few years ago as well . Everywhere you look / read / listen these days it’s all about - we are draining the system and everything has to change . I’m not young anymore and can’t be bothered with it all, it’s everywhere, it’s like living in constant fear and torture . They are deliberately making us feel like this and they love it . They can control us by FEAR- it’s an old tactic used by dictators everywhere.

you’re right about this government- TBH they are all the same now . No one is safe from this any more

Legislation regarding "deprivation" have no guidelines how to decide when spending are "allowable" and when "not allowable".
In most cases DWP not take into account claimant circumstances.
"Deprivation" is only if you hide your money from DWP, but for example in my case my spendings can't be treated as "deprivation", because this is normal for my family.
I'm not hide money from DWP, I have these spendings since 2022.
I'm not asked to switch my Tax Credit into Universal credit.
I had no intention to transfer money for daughter education from my bank account to my daughter bank account before transition from Tax Credits to Universal credit.
Because expected fair job from DWP side.

It's not fair when people run out of benefit before the end of the month and have no idea where the next meal is coming from either

Yep - this government are turning out to be shocking dictators .0 -
For goodness sake, we are hardly living in the dystopia of 1984

thanks Ranald - having an anxiety disorder doesn’t help

No offence intended, but we have to keep things grounded in reality. "constant fear and torture"?
1 -
that’s how I feel about everything not something I can help prob why I ended up on antipsychotics and a psychiatric ward. Some of us can’t be stoic
0 -
I’m not offended btw - if I could change I’d prob have lived a better life

I can relate to that anyway. Wish my muscles hadn't wasted away, and I still had a love life. Luck of the draw!

yep- some of us suffer more than others and some of us more than that-
With regards to ur comment about excess benefit money .
I get high rate pip and I hardly go out so I can’t spend it apart from when I’m impulse spending and binge eating. I have money left over every month. From some threads I’m not the only one in this situation .0 -
a love life would’ve been nice but coz of my MH issues I’ve never been able to have one . Living life on your own and knowing that’s how it’ll end is sad

I spend my money unwisely, not immune to overpriced, fatty, rubbish take away food.

True. I just try not to think about it. It is easier with the passage of time, with only the odd flare up.

yes - rumination makes everything worse . Yep for fatty food takeaways :)
