The work allowance is the amount you can earn before any deductions are made.

You can only get the work allowance if you have LCW or LCWRA, or have a dependent child on your claim.

As for right now (I recall you have started the WCA process very recently), if your wages go down then your UC award should rise as there is less for them to deduct from.

I’m no expert on this but I know a few people that got into some bother with the 14 hours simply because they thought it was 14hours allowed but in fact it’s under14 hours. So I would only do 13 a week if I were you.

That’s not correct when claiming UC. There’s no maximum amount of hours you can work.

If you haven’t been referred for a work capability assessment and you’re not claiming DLA/PIP or ADP you can’t be referred if your earnings are more than 16xNMW/week.

ok my bad it was years ago and not certain of the hours but at the time they said I believe under 16 hours a week, but they got into problems because they mistook it thinking 16 hours was fine but it was actually under 16 hours.

glad you cleared that up Poppy, I’m really not an expert with how things work now but remember the under 16 hours problem from experience, my bad if it’s not not related to this posters situation, apologies.

No worries. You are thinking of the ESA permitted work rules, which are indeed less than 16 hours per week. These rules do not apply to UC.

ahhh ok thanks for that Poppy, it was like they were trying to catch h people out saying 16 hours but in reality it was under 16, the person I knew went through so much headache about it but eventually dwp agreed that they didn’t try to break rules on purpose. Glad it’s not the same these days.
