Sorry Kim. Me again. Very pleased the OT is coming out to you. I suggest you ask her about a rollator, Mediquip might provide one free. Mine was. I did order a catalogue with aids and gadgets etc but some of the prices were frightening. And,cups of tea. What I've got is a travel mug. The lid stops my drink spilling when I'm going from A to B. We need our cups of tea!π. Can't remember how much it was, but pretty cheap off ebay. You said you're on UC. Do you get PIP too? Worth applying for if not. And it sounds as if you should be entitled to higher rate (LCWRA) if you're not already.
.I don't mean to be nosey or a nuisance but your situation sounds so similar to mine. And I wish I'd known this stuff before I did

Hello again π
That's brilliant regarding the lidded cup!! I think that I might actually have one already, I will have a look.
No,I applied for PIP but got turned down, the assessor ( it was a phone assessment) reckoned that I said that I could walk with no problems π Which I did NOT say at all.
I will try Mediquip, it's worth a try at least, I have just been looking at rollators again, I think one would be a godsend!
You're an angel, and you're so helpful. I don't feel so alone, and that really helps, so thank you β€οΈ

When was your PIP decision? Did you appeal the refusal at all or speak to local welfare rights?
They can support you from filling in the forms right the way through to independent appeal tribunal (if needed).
PIP decisions can be appealed up to 13 months afterwards, you just have to give them a reason if it's more than 1 month later.

I stupidly didn't appeal, I haven't spoken to anyone, but I will be now. I didn't realise that you can appeal for so long afterwards. It was around October time. I will be making lots of calls on Monday, thank you π

X-ray images are now immediately in *.dcm format or, for example, after conversion, *.jpg. The problem is deciphering them, you need a specialist, AI systems are not yet reliable.
Tea can be carried in a closed steel thermos, hung on your shoulder, for example).0 -
Kimmy87 I got a rollator for half the price it cost on eBay and it has a basket at the front and seat. It can hold so much stuff and is so light when you push it and easy to maneuver. I know I spellt maneoveur wrong sorry am a not rubbish at spelling some things.

Sorry to hear of your struggles. I just wanted to offer a few tips, you could invest in a travel mug or thermos flask for your tea. Also check out local second hand shops for cheap rollators, I managed to pick up a triwalker for Β£18, all it needed was a clean.
If like me, you don't drive and can't get round your local charity shops easily, ring them and ask if they have what you need, if they have just ask them to put it to one side for you. This is what I was going to do before I came across mine by luck.

Thank you for your excellent tips π I am actually going to pick up a rollator from a charity shop today, and I am so excited.

@Kim8 That's fantastic news! Getting back a little bit of independence works wonders for the soul βΊοΈ
What kind have you gone for? I started with the 4 wheeled one with a seat, it's great if I'm going out and know I'll need to rest. It's over 10 years old now and I happened to mention to my physiotherapist that I was looking for a replacement, but that they were way overpriced on ebay, she then gave me the tip about charity shops.
I'm still going to need to replace the 4 wheeled one at some point, I know where I'll be shopping for it π

I have been looking on Facebook market place and no joy,and then I had a light bulb moment π and rang around the charity shops, and only one had a rollator, I believe it's a 4 Wheeler and has a seat. I can't drive either π
I am going to ring a taxi now to go and collect it β€οΈ
