Hi, my name is scoey2709! Why do I need inform DWP to update my carers allowance? Will it stop?
My wife is in receipt of u/c with the lcwra award,I receive carers allowance,I've just received a notification in the journal to contact the office who deals with carers allowance and notify the to update my claim
My first question is why do I have to inform the DWP to update my carers allowance
My second question is will this notification stop my carers allowance

Hi,
I assume you live together and have a joint UC claim?
There should be no problem with you receiving Carers Allowance and your wife receiving LCWRA. However the CA amount will be deducted from your UC payment. You may also be able to claim the Carers Element on UC, depending on your circumstances.
Carers Allowance can be contacted by telephone on 0800 731 0297 if that is suitable for you.
I can't see any reason for Carers Allowance to be stopped from the information you've provided. All I can suggest is contacting CA to ask them what it's about.
** Edited ** - I've just read another members post about the same situation. It is possible that the rules have changed within the past week or so. Please do let us know what Carers Allowance say when you contact them.
