I recently updated on my UC journal my savings l answered all the questions correctly but was unsure on the last question which was have you received any back payments to which l answered no, however after closing the uc account l think l may have answered this question wrong as beginning of February l received a letter from the council to say l was due a refund for Council Tax Reduction Award which should have started last July 2024 but l never had a reduction so this is why l have received this refund, so after reading on internet it says that certain back dated payments should not be included in your savings.
So l think l should have answered Yes to this question.
I wasn’t aware about benefit back payments not to be included in savings for universal credits.
