Traditionally Shrove Tuesday falls the day before Ash Wednesday, and the last day before Lent. Traditionally a day to gain penance before beginning 40 days of fasting. The day also marks the time for people to enjoy sweet, rich foods before fasting begins.

But why pancakes? Well, a few reasons. Firstly, theyโ€™re a great way to use up rich foods with limited expiry leftover before lent. Also, eggs, flour, milk, and salt are said to represent the 4 pillars of Christianity. The topping being a a rather delicious modern twist!

Undecided on toppings?

Banana and golden syrup ๐Ÿฏ | Fresh fruit ๐Ÿ“

Whipped cream | Chocolate spread

Ice cream ๐Ÿจ | Peanut butter | Bacon ๐Ÿฅ“

    We'll be slaving over a hot pan once I finish work this evening. We usually skip a proper dinner and just go all in with as many pancakes as we can manage. They're my fave food. ๐Ÿค—

    Topping choices tonight;

    Maple syrup and cream.
    Dulce de leche and vanilla ice cream.
    Lemon and sugar.
    Nutella and squirty cream.

    I will be having pancakes. My topping is usually sugar. The only time I would ever eat sugar like this.

    Not a fan of pancakes, I once put a whole jar of jam on one as a child to make it taste good, but it went in the bin lol. Don't mind the American thick ones.
