Hi, my name is soconfuseddotcom!

Hello everyone iv got something id like to ask you all and see what your advise is or isn't. My now husband and I met a few years back and were both on benefits. I was on observers and he was on the sick.. I used to get just over £300 a month and he used to get £1200 amonth. When we decided to move in we had to make a joint claim obviously but to our horror our monthly joint payment is £800!!! How can this be acceptable we struggle all the time it's causing so much stress it's unbelievable they expect us to survive on this drop in payments isn't it?? Any advise would be greatly appreciated x

Entitlement will be based on a couples claim, as opposed to two singles.
Standard Allowance for a single person is £393.45, for a couple it's £617.60.
It is cheaper for two to share a household, compared to running two individual households.
Sorry I don't know what "observers" is.
What elements make up your claim, do either of you work?
You can check a benefits calculator to make sure your joint payment is correct.
