edited February 22 in Universal Credit (UC)

Hi ,

my son is 2 years old and I’m 4 weeks unplanned pregnancy . My pregnancy is tough at the first 5 months (morning sickness and anxiety attacks) .also I applied for LCWRA due to my health condition as I receive PIP enhanced rates both daily living and notability . I have work interview with UC job centre via phone . Do i have to inform them about my pregnancy? Is this can help in any way ? Like turne looking for work off.. I’m married and my husband receive LCWRA . not Pip. Any advice would be appreciated.

TIA

Are you aware if you are awarded LCWRA no extra money will be paid?

As within a couples claim one LCWRA element is the maximum payable.

    Hello @lillyB.

I believe at 29 weeks gestation they will turn off any work search requirements. Have you had your work capability assessment for LCWRA yet?

    Hello Morgan,

Thank you for your reply, I haven’t had my assessment yet ( still waiting),

I’ve heard that if you have 2 year old child you won’t look for work until he turns 3 ! Also I’ve heard that if you got pregnant and and you re ready have 2 years old they won’t ask you to look for work especially when you’re pregnancy is difficult ! Asking because my anxiety is on the top . Feel so exhausted and down.

    Hi again @lillyB.

If you are listed as the main carer for your children, you should not be asked to look for work until your child turns 3. They may ask you to do some work preparation tasks, such as attending meetings with a work coach, preparing a CV, and other similar activities. However, these should be suited to your personal situation.

You should be able to see what is expected of you in your Universal Credit account under your commitments.

Once you are 29 weeks pregnant, all work-related activities will stop, and you should not be expected to look for or prepare for work.
