I received a letter from PIP in relation to recent changes in the law in assessing my ability to mix with other people. I am not being asked to attend an assessment only to fill in the form. I am worried that contrary to what it says that my PIP will not be reduced that they may. I have recently being diagnosed as epileptic in addition to my anxiety depression and trauma . Will my PIP be reduced?

Thanks for any help

I hadn't heard about this but i just looked it up just now and it doesn't look like you need worry.

The change seems to mean more people than before will be eligible to get points for descriptor number 9.

Previously, it seems points could only be awarded if you needed someone to prompt and support you during the time you were mixing with others.

Now it includes people who need support and prompting before they get to the activity.

Now - disclaimer - i have only read this via a google search so if i am wrong, apologies and hopefully someone can put us right but i saw you had no answer.

What i am understanding from what i read is that someone who previously never got to the social activity at all would not be awarded - if they kept themselves to themselves and avoided social activity altogether.

Now - with the change - those very people will get points on the basis that they need help and support to motivate them to leave their homes and go to the social place. Even if they are not at the stage of getting as far as the social gathering, they will score as it is their disability preventing them from being able to try the socialising.

So if you already scored points there, no worries for you.
