So the Pope is about to need replacing again ?

It doesn’t seem very long ago that the last Pope was replaced,…. Really - almost 12 years ?

Why don’t they try a younger model, which would probably last longer – would be cheaper to run and if they made it female it would be better for all of us ?

i should imagine its because it takes a long time to climb the hierarchy ladder to become a pope ie 60s or 70s plus they earn no salary only living and travel expenses

How much experience does that take?

I bet that they don't stay in travel lodge hotels?

And when they fly - do they fly tourist class?

Remember that Francis is not only pope but the absolute monarch of a country, namely Vatican City. From what I have garnered, popes earn a salary of $32,000 a month or $384,000.00 a year. Pope Francis, reportedly gives all his salary to charity, placed in a trust or given to family members. He is a Jesuit and they basically renounce all wealth or luxury and don’t have any real possessions. But the pope does have access to cars and the Vatican government pays for all his travels and living expenses. A lot of the income of Vatican City comes from tourism, museum admission, sale of stamps, coins and publications. The pope also get income from what is called Peter’s Pence, where parishes around the world have a second collection taken up and sent to Rome. In 2022 that came to about 107 million Euros.

As I said - it would be a lot cheaper if they replaced him with a younger female model
