Feeling stuck

I had a stroke about 10 years ago, I was early 40’s at the time, it left me with left side weakness, this has slowly got worse, my balance is dreadful, I work outdoors as I was never very educated, although I wouldn’t say thick, but I’m looking for a remote job now but I don’t know where to start? I can’t claim benefits as I have saved a little but if I don’t find a job suitable I will soon be skint, and to be honest I don’t want to claim benefits, that looks and sounds hard work alone, and I want to keep as independent as I can for as long as I can.

Hi @tracyremote, welcome to the community. Sorry to hear you're feeling stuck, I think lots of us will have felt that at one point or another and it's never easy.

Scope have a page about finding disability friendly employers that you might find useful:

Finding disability-friendly employers | Disability charity Scope UK

Hope you can find something suitable soon. If you do need help applying for benefits at any point, many of our members have been through it so you wouldn't be alone. I'm sure you'd get some good advice should you need it 😊

It may be worth trying telecommuting, for example, as a consultant or in customer service, where you can work from home.
