Am I correct in thinking why they ended my claim is due to tenants as I am on IR esa I can’t think any other reason why they would end my claim?

    This won't affect your PIP.

I agree with you that the letter is very poorly worded. I can't understand it myself either. It does appear that you won't be getting any ESA at all moving forward, but if it was part contributions based before then I don't see why that would stop.

Would you be able to call the ESA phone line and ask them to explain whether you're still going to get any ESA or not?

I tried calling and keep running out of phone credit and never able get hold anyone but I try again and I haven’t had any payments since the 16th January

And this letter states highlighted in blue

A change to rates of social security benefits

We cannot pay you anymore esa from 17th January

(I read my claim cannot end because normal change in rates but I did read “ a change to rates of social security benefits” can be referring to a change of circumstances)

and highlighted in red I don’t think any part my claim was CB esa all IR esa what I can see from this letter

also what I don’t understand is they sent me a change of circumstances letter dated the 7/1/25 and gave me till the 8/2/25 to respond I sent the letter to them on the 30/1/25 so I don’t understand why this letter dated 25/1/25 and said I won’t get anymore esa from 17/1/25?

also I’m worried about any over payments as they not mentioned anything in this letter would they have mentioned or a reference to over payment with this letter or will any over payments be sent from different department ?

and do you think they ended my claim before they got my response as the tenancy agreement sent in was confirmation that I was getting income more then the esa payments? As I buddies why they gave me till 8/2/25

Overpayment would be a separate matter and not mentioned in that letter saying your ESA is ending.

I'd urge you to seek advice from a professional benefits adviser via local welfare rights, I gave you a link for this before.

I'm sorry to hear you used your phone credit on the ESA helpline. I assume you used the 0300 number on the letter? Please try this phone number, it starts 0800 so should be free from either mobile or landline.  0800 169 0310.

Or try a professional advice service service as Kimmy suggests. As much as we want to help, I don't think there is any more we can offer in this situation unfortunately. I've read the letter through again but it still doesn't make much sense sadly.

There is a national insurance number visible.
