Pointless Assessment.

Hi, recently had my telephone assessment/review. With a "functional specialist "( physiotherapist). Having read the copy of her findings I realise I have most likely scored zero.

It's really odd, some questions I wasn't asked about have been answered for me . I no longer struggle to bathe, dress, prepare food and can now cook to cordon blue standard . The 20-50 metre restriction on walking has vanished. Apparently I could now run a marathon in all weather's.

The question I have to ask is, why did they even bother ? It's obvious it was a box ticking exercise.

Hey @greatdanemia sorry to hear about the assessment, they basically are box ticking exercises, but it's not the end of the road as you'll be able to ask for a MR (mandatory reconsideration) and can set the record straight. I always suggest asking for one in writing and focus on explaining where you should have scored points.

Hi, thanks for replying. What's the procedure in obtaining an MR ?

If the decision is against me do I lose my pip straight away?

Also , what about my Motability vehicle ?

No problem @greatdanemia if you click on the bit where the text is a different colour on my previous comment, it'll open a link which will give you lots of info on the MR process. 😊

If they lower or remove your award, then you'll be on whatever they decide until a new decision is made, be it at MR, or Tribunal. But it will be backpaid.

I'm afraid I'm not sure what happens with Motobility after reviews. Hopefully someone else will be able to help there?

    Got my decision today.

I've gone from the standard living and enhanced mobility to zero.

The explanation is full of lies and in the opinion of the "functional specialist "( a physiotherapist) I'm completely healthy and can run a marathon if needed.

She entirely disregarded everything I said and turned it round to suit herself . How does "I don't cook" translate to "able to prepare a simple meal?" I need help to go to the toilet "" I can attend unaided? "

I now drive an automatic car because I can no longer change gear become "adequate grip and limb movement?

Because I drive my partner to work twice a week using a sat nav and still get lost become "I can navigate journeys without severe anxiety or distress?

    It's a litany of bs.

I'm so sorry to hear this @greatdanemia. Is there any way you can request a mandatory reconsideration? I know this isn't ideal and will cause more stress, but it might be worth it in the long run. I hope you're ok.

When I first read the letter. I could quite cheerfully have stepped in front of a bus.

I am curious what as to what the DWP think I can put my limited abilities to in terms of work or what employer would consider me ,considering at 63 I can only offer 4 years.

Anything to reduce the benefits bill.

"Changed the descriptors as your circumstances have changed"-?

Yes , there's more wrong with me now than previously.

I have arthritis, the only HAND OUT we on PIP have had is a one off MEASLY £150,while some other different types of benefits have had MONEY THROWN AT THEM. I paid my MEASLY £150 to our Gas/Electricity supplier. So it's rare for me to have the Heating on, with Arthritis my hands are ALWAYS cold to the point they have numerous colours! Last year I had a TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT BUT hav'nt told PIP because I don't want TO DRAW MY ATTENTION TO THEM, or is it their attention to ME? I JUST WANT THEM TO FORGET ABOUT CUTTING/REPLACING PIP & LEAVING ALONE.
