Hi, my name is jefficity1959! adhesive on the stoma bag failing. Anyone else had this issue?

Hi I'm Jeff, a 65 yo who's had a stoma for almost 6 years now. I adjusted to life with a stoma quite well but lately I've been having a few issues with the adhesive on the bag failing, which I'm sure most people who have experienced this, is disastrous.
I've been in touch with my stoma nurse, who is fantastic, and I've changed my bag to the confidence be but whilst they are better the problem can still happen.
I was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and maybe have a few tips on dealing with this.
Thanks for reading
Jeff

Hi @jefficity1959 Welcome to the Community. I do not have a stoma so am unable to help with your issue. Just wanted to say hello. I am sure other members will be able to help.
Have a look around and join in when you are ready.
Take care.

Heya @jefficity1959 and it's a warm welcome from me too. 😁
I've altered the title of your discussion and moved it to another category, so more people in the know will see and hopefully offer some top advice. I hope that's ok?

Hi Welcome to the community. I have a stoma (Ileostomy) and had one for around 8 or 9 years now. Theres been many times that my stoma bag doesn't stick down properly, I have tried heating the bags up first. tried putting orehesive powder round the area first but still have this problem now and then. Some days they stick fine straight away and have no problems, other times they just don't want to play nice and will keep unsticking and the only way to solve is by sitting there for like 30mins with me holding it in place till it fully sticks.
I don't think the bags are an issue, but our skin after having a bag on for so long or something. Things just refuse to stick after a while, but again its completely random like I can have days where they stick perfectly and some that don't, so not sure on the cause.
Post-edit: I did a quick google, and apprently if the skin itself is too warm around the area it can cause this issue.0 -
Thanks for that, I'm exactly the same, most days fine but occasionally not. I suspect this the case for most of us ostomists.
