Worried about PIP & ESA changed

I am in receipt of PIP & ESA for complex mental health & physical conditions, including post traumatic arthritis of ankle. I'm terrified that these will be stopped or assessments made tougher & even more stressful than they already are. I already feel that I have to justify why I'm still alive when assessed. I don't have any support and really scared about the future.

All of this is seriously impacting my mental health. I'm already have heightened anxiety due to the ESA to UC migration letter I received a couple of weeks ago.

Feels like the govt want to punish vulnerable people & see mental health as an easy target. They don't care about how all this anxiety can contribute to self-harm & panic.

I don't believe govt rhetoric about wanting to help. It's all about saving money at the expense of voiceless and vulnerable people & ideological choices aimed at appeasing right wing voters.

is anyone else struggling to cope with all this talk on media & from govt about benefit cuts aimed at disability claimants? How can a Lab govt be so callous?!

Hi @TK1, it's not easy at all and you won't be the only one feeling worried. Many of us are feeling the strain from what's being discussed in the news at the moment.

We've got a discussion up on the topic here: Upcoming changes to benefits.

We know very little about what might happen or when at the moment. However, we're actively campaigning and raising awareness through The Cost of Cuts, and we’d really appreciate your support and signature.

We understand this is a tough topic, and many people are finding it difficult to cope. To keep the community a safe space, we're encouraging all discussions on benefit changes to stay in one place. For that reason, we’ll be closing this discussion, but we’d love for you to join the main discussion thread here: Upcoming changes to benefits.
