Hi

I don't mean to annoy anyone if this has already been discussed (please provide a link if that's the case), but I find it hard to search cognitively. It's not laziness, but rather a cognitive issue & focus.

I seem to have had my head in the sand for quite some time due to ill health and haven't been watching daily events unfold, so it was somewhat of a shock to learn more about the forthcoming changes to the benefits system.

I received a "UC Claim review" yesterday, which has led me down this rabbit hole of now focusing on these radical benefits changes.

So my question is; when do these changes come into force?

I have debts transpiring from white goods needing renewing when theyve broken down.etc… I am obviously concerned if my money is reduced; as I simply won't be able to manage at all.

My concern is not only losing benefits, which places us all in a major dilemma; my debts added to that make this all an impossible task to pay off, and live day to day.

My car will be taken; which will be so limiting.

I have no family nor anyone i can rely on.

What on earth do we do?

Hi unfortunately none of us know the answer to that until the government make an official announcement soon.

    Hi @Middleton

    Great question.

As @luvpink mentioned, at the moment, no formal announcements have been made, so no one knows for certain what the changes will be or how or when they’ll be implemented.

We're actively campaigning and raising awareness through The Cost of Cuts, and we’d really appreciate your support and signature. We're also having a big discussion about it, which you can read here: Upcoming changes to benefits.

We understand this is a difficult topic, and many people are finding it challenging. To keep the community a safe space, we're encouraging all discussions on benefit changes to stay in one place. For that reason, we’ll be closing this discussion, but we’d love for you to join the main discussion thread here: Upcoming changes to benefits.
