Esa Ni Contribution only

Hello there,

Dwp credit me Ni contribution only, however when checking my pension I see I have already reached the maximum of 221.20 per week

£221.20 is the most you can get

So why Dwp is still claiming they pay me NI credit if they do not add any value? I was rejected Esa payment because I was not advised in due time I could claim Esa since being laid off following a mild stroke.I was initially put on Jsa and only after 4 years I was advised about Esa by then it was too late because I had not paid tax being unemployed.

I'd appreciate your input on my thoughts

Thank you and Kind Regards

Carlo

    Hi,

    NI Credits are not 'paid' as such, they are just credits.

    It does not matter whether you already have enough for the full state pension or not.

    Hello there, Thank you ;

    However my point is DWP cannot justified they already awarded me NI only contributions since there is no added value.

    Contributions are not the same as credits. Contributions are money that someone has paid in, either your employer or yourself. Credits are not paid by anyone.

    I understand you applied for New Style ESA but could not get payments as you hadn't worked within the past 2 years. The default response to that is to give you NI credits on a 'credits only' claim, regardless of how many years you already have.

    No one is paying for those credits, so no-one is losing out.

    You may be able to claim Universal Credit if you have less than £16,000 in savings, depending on whether you still have any other income.
