Been doing good moving on since I lost my dad in January

Been doing good moving on since I lost my dad in January. He passed away from a 4 year battle with Alzheimer's, was 80 a couple days short of his 81st birthday. Lived a good long life being a good father to my 3 older brothers and I. One memory of him was when I was 18 about to go somewhere and asked me where I was going. Told him I was going to the Marines recruiting office to enlist wanting to do something in my life. Knew I was heading in the wrong direction in life hanging in the wrong crowd and I had enough of that. Was supportive on the spot and seen it was a positive change in my life after completely finishing boot camp. Seen I came out as better person too putting the past behind me. Still have a picture of us taken together at my boot camp graduation with him wearing his proud dad of an USMC Marine t shirt. His Alzheimer's, he did hit my mom a couple times which he was never that way and forgot our names reminding him diagnosed with it 4 years ago. Did pull his driver's license too right away which the doctor recommended to do

I'm glad to hear you are doing well since having lost your Dad.
My father in law passed away in a care home with alzeimers.
He was a month away from his 80th birthday.
He was such a lovely dear man.
My own father wasn't present in my life but my father in law was so kind to me, he always recognised me but not his son, my then husband.

When we lost my father in law it was like a double grieving process.
First we lost the person to the living disease and all the physical and mental affects that came with it and then of course the actual loss through death.
Very sad indeed.

My dad sent me good message to me and I remember it to this before I enlisted at 18, said I better get my life on track in the right direction and I was going no where at all hanging in that wrong crowd

Very sorry to hear that.
Your mum was a relatively young age.
I lost my mum 16 years ago.
She was 74
My whole world fell apart.
The grief is never ending.
Even now I have moments I think 'I will ring mum' and then think I can't because she is in heaven.
I too have lost beloved pets.
