@Hopeless That is just amazing! What a brilliant photo - it is truly wondrous. Where I live a rat in the backyard constitutes wildlife; I think it would be lovely to have hedgehogs. Thanks for the post - it made me happy.

Oh, that’s so sad. Hedgehogs are such lovely creatures

I only discovered where I live has hedgehogs a couple of years ago - I stumbled across a fast asleep one whilst gardening! I started leaving hedgehog biscuits and water out and progressed to buying a feeding station (to stop the local cats stealing all the food) and a hedgehog house. Last summer I had 2 hogs both wanting to live in the house and not wanting to share so now I have 2 houses! They do disappear in winter - their hibernation quarters must be elsewhere but for months they keep me entertained with their antics.
Since discovering them and talking about them at the bus stop many of my neighbours have also started looking out for them and we seem to have quite a healthy population of hogs in a city suburb. They’re now quite a talking point!

Oh how lovely when my yorkie doesn't have hair cut and goes on her back reminds me of a hedgehog they have the most sweetest faces

Aww what a cute photo @Hopeless! Do you get many in your garden? We've never ever had one in ours!

Oh I just did a little squeak with happiness seeing that photo. Thanks for sharing @Hopeless ❤️

It’s quite difficult to tell them apart and know how many hedgehogs are around. Last year I saw 2 at the same time but generally they’re quite solitary. It’s definitely helped that my lovely neighbour agreed for me to cut a hole in our fence as a hedgehog highway

Be careful! Wild animals can carry dangerous diseases.

I am, I don’t handle them and wear gloves when I clean their food bowls and feeding station/houses. I’m protecting myself and them
