I'm struggling

I do not know who to turn to. I am struggling due to the news and Labour's plans to 'reform' the welfare system. I am scared that my LWCA will be stopped when Labour announce their plans. Hearing Wes Steering, say that mental health is overdignosed really upset me and makes me feel like drain on the system. I feel so hopeless. I have BPD, Psychosis, Depression and PTSD. The CMHT said they would support me if anything happens with the 'reforms'. I just needed to share as I am winding myself up.

I'm sorry to hear that you're suffering, the plans get to me to as well sometimes, makes me feel like ending it all.

I think any changes that do happen will take years. Try and save if you can in the meantime so you've got a safety net if things go bad.

I think you can ease up on your worries. You have diagnosed, serious mental health issues.

I didn't hear Wes Streeting's actual speech, just a very short news report referring to the mental health crisis amongst our young folks.

And there is a huge problem with our teenagers. They are dropping out of education in huge numbers. They are very anxious. They are spending far too much time online. And some of them are then developing eating disorders, body dysmorphia, self-harm behaviours etc.

Many of these teens are developing these conditions as a direct result of modern life. Social factors.

In different circumstances, they would be healthy and thriving.

This is what Wes Streeting was probably talking about.

And these young folks - some of them are becoming so ill they are qualifying for PIP. But they have no hope or determination to recover. They are very young but are written off at tragically young ages.

Some of our teens cannot cope with 'minor' crises - exam stress is sending them into illness.

So i think this is what Wes Streeting was talking about from the bit i heard on the news - normal bumpy patches in people's lives are being labelled too fast as depression.

Anti depressants dished out and the teen is quickly self identifying themselves as mentally ill and not planning for the future at all.

He wasn't talking about you. I spend quite a bit of time around teenagers and young folks in their 20s and - honestly - some of them have no bouncability at all.
