Please can someone give me a rough idea of how long it will take to implement the cuts that are going to be announced tomorrow?

I will need to let my carer know that I won't be needing her in the future and I will also need to alert the rescue charity that they will need to take my beloved cat back - I'm already struggling and won't be able to afford to keep him. He is all I've got and it is so therapeutic to have a pet around, but they cost.

I will also need to put my credit card on alert that I won't be able to afford to make payments. I used the card regularly when I first became ill and lost mobility for aids and services as it is safer to use a credit card in case something goes wrong. It built up and I've been managing to make payments but won't be able to with a reduction in the help I get.

I have to monitor my blood pressure regularly and it has gone through the roof these past few days with the worry of more struggles and worry to come. I will have to make choices of eat, heat or pay other bills. I'm already on social tariffs, so they cant be reduced any more.

All I can hope is that the worry eventually causes nature to take its course! I'm in my 60s anyway so general health is failing as well now.

If you can give me an idea at least I'll be able to give others warning. Many thanks.

Hi @LouCie61 i'm afraid it's difficult to say until the announcement today where hopefully we'll receive a bit more clarity as to the intentions. I can completely understand why you're worried.

However it is important to remember this is just the very initial proposals and there'll be a period of consultation etc. allowing us an opportunity to respond to these but in the meantime, you have a community of people here that share the same concerns so we will support each other through this. 💛

To keep the community a safe space, we're encouraging all discussions on benefit changes to stay in one place. For that reason, we’ll be closing this discussion, but we’d love for you to join the main discussion thread here: Upcoming changes to benefits.
