My mental health is too delicate to listen to this lot ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Tonight's panel includes Helen Whately, an ex-Tory MP, a Republican and Fraser Nelson ๐Ÿ˜ถ ๐Ÿ˜–

It's Newsnight for me - the day's important national news and international stories - with no YELLING and the lovely Paddy O'Connell ๐Ÿ™‚

    (who?)

HARDtalk ends later this month ๐Ÿ˜• I had no idea!

I've just watched Nina Simone speaking English and trying to keep a straight face

I couldn't bring myself to watch it either, considering the audience is supposed to be a fair representation of political colours, I'd expect the panel to be, although to be fair I don't know who else was on it. But just realised, unless, Diane Abbot or someone of her ilk was on it then it wouldn't ge worth watching as Labour representatives ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿฅฒ.

Also, no offence to anyone from Berkshire, but hardly a staunch (true) labour county.

You shouldn't be watching it anyway. Nobody should.

Santosha , it's usually more balanced. I don't imagine any of them had anything new to say ๐Ÿ™„

    Diane Abbott is 71 ๐Ÿคฉ

I didn't know, and i'm sorry to hear about Hardtalk. One of the few programmes I watch.

Mr Coutts Bank is frogface btw. Likes to pretend he's one of us, when not crawling up Trump's rear end.

Viewers have been left furious at theย BBCโ€™s decision toย scrap one of its flagship current affair programmes,ย HARDtalk.

The politics show, known for its challenging interviews with world leaders, is presented by veteran broadcaster Stephen Sackur and has spent nearly three decades on air.

On Tuesday (15 October)ย the BBC announced the decision to end the programmeย in March 2025, along with the loss of 100 news roles at the corporation.

The company has been facing increasing financial pressure and hasย projected its total deficit will increase to ยฃ492 millionย for the 2024/25 financial year.

Sackur, 60, hit out at the decision to axe HARDtalk, calling it โ€œdepressing news for the BBC and all those who believe in the importance of independent, rigorous deeply researched journalism.โ€

He continued, โ€œAt a time when disinformation and media manipulation are poisoning public discourse,ย HARDtalkย is unique โ€“ a long-form interview show with only one mission, to hold to account those who all too often avoid accountability in their own countries.โ€

During his career, the presenter has interviewed Robert Mugabe, Hugo Chavez, Sergei Lavrov, Meles Zenawi, Lula, Nancy Pelosi, Recep Tayep Erdogan, Emmanuel Macron, Imran Khan, Olusegan Abasanjo, and many others.
