Benefit cap

Can someone explain this to me please.
I've looked on internet and tried ringing but getting no joy the lines are down.
What does it mean when it says the benefit cap doesn't apply, this is the bit I'm not understanding.
Does it mean you can earn an unlimited amount each month and still claim UC?
How much would you get?
I believe if someone in the household claims PIP/DLA then the cap doesn't apply
Please explain

This is a fairly simple guide:

I've read it and I still don't understand it.

The benefit cap is a cap on the amount of benefits each person can get.
This is separate to the deductions made for earnings on Universal Credit. If you earn more than the work allowance, you will still have some money deducted from your UC payments.

Thank you. If you earn over the work allowance amount and your UC is 0 do you then loose the everything else that goes with it or just the UC element. Like disabled child allowance, carers etc

UC is a benefit made up of many different elements.
First they are added up, then any deductions are made.
If your award was 0, then you don't receive any payment at all.

What is the work allowance please and is that for each person or the total income combined. A couple over 25

The work allowance would apply to your overall claim, so total income combined.
See link for further information.
You can try various scenarios using a benefits calculator
