PIP renewal

Just wanted a quick bit of advise as very anxious about all these changes re PIP.

I have been claiming PIP (enhanced for daily living and enhanced for mobility) since December 2023 as well as ESA - contributory based (support group). I am not currently working due to the difficulties faced with severe vision and hearing loss. However I did work as an engineer from 1992 to 2023 during the time my hearing and eyesight was good but it has progressed very quickly in the last 4 years causing me difficulties in mobility and daily living

I am now confirmed to be severely visually impaired and also hearing impaired, this is a progressive condition, permanent so will not get back any lost hearing or eyesight as there is no cure for this chromosomal disorder.

My current PIP award is until December 2026 and i am guessing that i will have a review or reassessment. My concern is regarding the new PIP eligibility rules whether I will be reassessed via the old current rules or the new rules as I hear the new rules kick in November 2026. By the looks of it I will end up losing my daily living component as under the current rules I have a 4 in 2 activities only.

Any suggestions as to whether the renewal review will be under the old or new system.

Also does anyone who what is happening to ESA contributory based awards for those on the support group?

From my understanding, you only need 2 4s under the new rules, which haven't been confirmed yet. Also, there is a difference between PIP Renewal and PIP Review. From the Web :

In the context of Personal Independence Payment (PIP), a renewal happens when you need to reapply for PIP after your initial award period ends, while a review is when the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) assesses your ongoing needs and decides whether to extend or change your award.
