Pip Ending in 2025

Hi

I was born with Cerebral Palsy affecting mobility and speech. I was awarded PIP enhanced rate in 2016. My mobility got worse since then and I need more physical support since I turned 20 years. My PIP award will end in 2026. Now, I have a careplan, learning contract from university and happy to get other medical letters but I'm really nervous because last time, I didn't have a careplan and learning contract and they took away my award. Then my doctor helped me to get Pip. I was wondering if I can avoid PIP assessment by sending these evidence? The assessment feels like a harassment as they ask to perform things- with me its difficult to see my disability as I can have good days and bad days.

The key to getting a paper based assessment is in providing very robust evidence for each descriptor you meet. If they have enough evidence from your claim form, you won't be called for assessment.

So - make sure you thoroughly understand each descriptor, what is included in that descriptor and what is not.

Make sure the evidence you are sending not only backs up what you have written - but also that you link it together for them. Assume that they are intelligent enough to read well but that they know nothing much at all about CP.

Be really clear about WHAT aspect/aspects of each descriptor you cannot manage and then WHY and then point them to the exact lines in your medical reports that show what you say is true.

It is also worth giving thought as to who you put down as a contact. Often GPs aren't that great. If you have a support worker, a very good choice.

Physiotherapist, care worker - be sure to give them the heads up that they might get a call. And you can even give them a copy of your completed responses which will help keep them on track of what your struggles are if they do get a call.
