Information request

Hi all
I have been awarded daily care standard rate but declined the mobility side. Since then, i have just had a full left knee replacement. I will be off work for at least 3 months & could be 12 months before its proper settled. Within that 12 months i will be having my right knee replacement. My mobility walking is affected to stage where i cannot walk 5 steps unaided.
should i & how to re apply for the mobility award payment?

Hi @Rafaccy, welcome to the community 😊
It's quite a personal decision whether to ask for a reassessment. You could end up scoring the points that you're hoping for but they will look at your whole award. This means that while you may gain points, you could also lose them in other areas of your award.
With PIP it's usually decided on whether your conditions will last for more than 12 months from when they started, so by the time the reassessment is complete it could also mean that you'll have to be reassessed again should your condition have improved after your recovery.
I don't mean that to put you off if you feel the benefits would be really useful to you, it's just a couple of things to consider.
If you do decide to go ahead, you would just need to contact them to put in a change of circumstances and explain your health conditions have changed. There's some information about that here:
Hope it goes well for you whatever you decide 😊
