hi all

I submitted my first claim for PIP 3 years ago and was turned down at a paper based tribunal. I have erosive inflammatory OA in every finger on both hands. Last November it moved to both wrists and in February I had surgery. I decided to then apply for PIP again aa my condition is worsening m and I had a letter back from the tribunal saying ‘ since Miss …. Submitted her appeal, she Has submitted a second application for PIP and no decision has been made. If the Tribunal decide to award PIP the date payable would only be effective up to the date of the new claim. The tribunal will be informed when a new claim decision has been made’. I haven’t even had an assessment for the second claim yet so why did I receive this and why are they referring to a tribunal I wasn’t successful at? I work FT so can’t sit on hold to them for hours so was hoping someone may be able to help me please? Thank you so much.

Hi @NT73 sorry it's taken so long to get a response to this. That reads to me that they're pending the second PIP assessment outcome before the tribunal moves forward. Did you manage to get an answer since your original post?

    Best wishes,

Thanks for replying Holly. I lost at tribunal in 2022. I didn’t attend but got notified that they agreed with the DWP decision, which is why I thought the letter from them was so strange. I applied again in January this year and was awarded.

I'm really pleased you got a positive end result @NT73. Thank you for confirming this, and sorry again for not getting back to you before now. I think March with the green paper announcement was very chaotic and so unfortunately a few chats fell through the cracks.

    Best wishes,
