Pip - second time applying

hi all
I submitted my first claim for PIP 3 years ago and was turned down at a paper based tribunal. I have erosive inflammatory OA in every finger on both hands. Last November it moved to both wrists and in February I had surgery. I decided to then apply for PIP again aa my condition is worsening m and I had a letter back from the tribunal saying ‘ since Miss …. Submitted her appeal, she Has submitted a second application for PIP and no decision has been made. If the Tribunal decide to award PIP the date payable would only be effective up to the date of the new claim. The tribunal will be informed when a new claim decision has been made’. I haven’t even had an assessment for the second claim yet so why did I receive this and why are they referring to a tribunal I wasn’t successful at? I work FT so can’t sit on hold to them for hours so was hoping someone may be able to help me please? Thank you so much.

It doesn't make sense if the tribunal letter was addressed to you because it reads as if they are talking about you as a third party .

Summerlove - I know, it’s so odd. It was from DWP to the tribunal. Came with a covering letter to me asking me to keep it to take to tribunal with me. I’ve since had the standard text from DWP to say they’re looking at my claim. All so bizarre 🤷🏼♀️
