hi I need help.
I am a full time carer receiving carers allowance and also recieve PIP and income support
I recieved my universal credit migration and filled on line
They recognised I'm a carer reciieving carers allowed but the want to know if I have health issues, I filled in my health issues now they want a fit note
Do I have to get this, I have but unsure what to do as I cannot not care for my adult son who has lots of health issues
I have gone for help at other agencies and no one knows

You can continue to care for your son if you complete the WCA process and are given LCWRA, but if you get Carers Element under UC then that would end and you'd get LCWRA element instead, which pays more money.
Carers Allowance would be unaffected.
Do you receive any Transitional Protection on your claim? If you do it will be listed on your payment statement.

Hi @jen1827 and a warm welcome to the community!
I see Kimi has answered your question and given some good advice so I won't add anything else today but it's lovely to have you here on the community and I hope you find it to be a safe and supportive space😄

hi Kim
Thankyou for your reply
I'm not familiar with this terms and know it's managed migration so I assume I'll get I get transitional protection due to it being managed migration so
I don't see it any ware on the portal though.
Do you have to provide a sick note as I thought due to being a carer I would not be able to be available to work, even though I have health issues myself
I m just stressed out not knowing to much about this UC
Thankyou so much

Apologies, I thought you were already getting UC.
It's correct that carers have no work commitments.
Because you have reported your health problems, the system now wants a Fit Note for you to go through the Work Capability Assessment process.
Carers can go through the WCA, and be awarded LCWRA, but any Carers Element would end (the same person cannot get both) and LCWRA would reduce any Transitional Protection.
Unfortunately there is a headache going on for those that change between CE & LCWRA.
What used to happen was CE was removed and LCWRA reduced TP, leaving people worse off.
The courts ruled what needs to happen is TP reduces by the difference between CE & LCWRA. Since the ruling some have had the correct deduction to their award, while others have struggled to get the ruling applied correctly.

No he doesn't have to write down all your health conditions.
I'm not sure if you can cancel the WCA process.
There was a member recently who tried to do so after submitting a Fit Note by not returning the UC50 form, but they still assessed and gave an award without it.
I'd recommend you speak to a trained benefits advisor for more expert advic.
