Can you claim UC if you live with an ex partner?

It would be like 2 friends living together.

We go on holiday and do things together but we have separate money, bedrooms, bathrooms etc

We get on so well we are like best friends and it's cheaper for us to do this.

We have no mortgage but we own the home half mine, half his. No children.

    Hi,

    You can claim UC but your ex may be treated as a non-dependant. You may also be expected to prove that you're not partners.

    What is a non dependent?

    What proof do they need?

    We can send photos of bedrooms, bathrooms and bank information

    A non dependent is an adult who lives with you but is not your partner, child or someone jointly liable for rent/council tax and who is not considered a lodger or tenant.
