Question about uc health part form(fit note)

hello I’m sons appointee and I’ve recently helped him with uc claim and fit note. I had to fill out a form for the health element. Anyway I received a call from the gp surgery asking me to make a telephone appointment with the gp to discuss his dwp form, is this normal as I haven’t dealt dealt with this before?

Hi,
Yes, this is normal. UC can request information from the claimants GP. It sounds like the GP wants to double check your son's conditions before filling in the form so as not to make any contradictions.

overly anxious thank you for your comment. I was just a bit concerned as to what that was about. I’ve done pip forms etc and couldn’t remember this ever being the case.

PIP rarely contact GP's but UC & ESA do sometimes.
My own GP caused major problems a few years ago when he wouldn't fill in the ESA review forms unless I could get to the surgery, which wasn't possible due to my conditions. (I did get it sorted eventually, had to go through another full assessment at the Job Centre.)
