Does anyone on here suffer with Foot Drop because of slipped discs and been awarded PIP as I have applied but had letter to say not entitled to anything. It has annoyed me knowing people that get PIP don’t have as much disability than i have as have to wear a splint and use crutches as well

    Hi @shazzer123,

I’m sorry to hear about your foot drop. Although mine isn’t due to slipped discs, I have common peroneal nerve dysfunction from neuropathy, which has caused foot drop and sensory loss, so I completely understand how challenging it must be to mobilise with crutches. I’ve had several falls myself and switch between using sticks and crutches. I also use AFOs and insoles to help.

I can see why you’re frustrated with PIP. Were you able to list all the functional difficulties your foot drop is causing? Things like falls, increased effort when walking, fatigue, toe/skin injuries (if any), difficulty with stairs (toe catching), weather impact, getting in and out of a car or transport, struggling with uneven surfaces/slopes/kerbs, accessing the bath, difficulty dressing lower body(getting trousers/pants/socks/shoes/splints on),fear of falling and avoiding access and issues with balance, more pertinent to your case can all be important to mention.

Did you challenge the decision and go through mandatory reconsideration or appeal?

    Best wishes,

Hey there @shazzer123 and welcome to the community.

I can see you're getting some lovely support, so I wont confuse matters, I just wanted to pop in and say a quick hello and to please ask for a mandatory reconsideration. Best of luck!
