Hello, I am an old biddy (81) disabled myself with old age mostly and also a carer for a daughter with CP (Hypotonia.) Extremely worried like everyone else must be about the future. We have been struggling for months just to get a disabled bus pass renewed for her. She is fifty years old and has had this since the service began about twenty plus years ago. We have proof after proof and they just ignore it and ask for more and more. She does pay for this and is unable to use regular buses. Any suggestions?

Hi @Sivam and a warm welcome to the community.

It's very understandable why you're feeling worried, it is a very stressful and unknown time for disabled people and their families.

    Good afternoon @Sivam

Welcome to the community. It sounds like a very stressful situation for your daughter. It shouldn't be this hard to renew a bus pass for a disabled person. Has she complained to the Local Authority and asked for confirmation of what evidence she needs to provide?

When I applied for my bus pass, I had to show my PIP form and I was approved. Her experience sounds very difficult for you both. If the Local Authority are still unhelpful, I would contact your local Citizens Advice.

I'm one of the CP specialists at Scope. We offer lots of advice and support to those with cerebral palsy. We run an online monthly meeting which you or your daughter are welcome to join. It's a great space to meet other members of the community. Here is the link. Scope CP Network

    Good luck
