Curious what happens if you’re diagnosed with another health condition while awaiting tribunal?

Hi , as you know waiting lists are long for specialists etc so while I applied for pip I was still awaiting appointments . ( applied with other diagnosed issues) . My Dr wants to speak to me next week following blood tests . Now I don’t know exactly what it is but I do have my suspicions . Say your logged for tribunal and some other condition comes to light that has been affecting you all
The while is that ignored cos it’s not logged when you applied for pip? Like I say I’m
Just curious how these things work .
Thanks all x

Hello @Dendoo
PIP isn't based on your diagnosis but on how your condition(s) affects your ability to carry out the tasks listed in the PIP descriptors.
A new diagnosis isn't always relevant to PIP. A tribunal will focus on how your condition affected you at the time of the assessment, not on any worsening of your condition since then. However, if the diagnosis explains some of the symptoms you previously reported in your PIP form and assessment, it may be useful to be able to put a name to them.

Report any changes that effects how your illness impacts your ability to live a normal daily life, it's not based on a diagnosis, and its a trap a lot of people fall into when they complete their PIP forms. CAB will complete forms for you so that the completed PIP form reflects how your affected as opposed to what it is that has affected you. Good Luck

I had around c 12 new diagnoses in the 18 month period of time between applying for PIP and getting to Tribunal. I sent the information but it wasn't considered so for instance, I was awarded PIP standard for daily living at Tribunal but no mobility even though I'm now housebound. The Tribunal chair told me I could ask for a Review but I didn't as they'd warned me the whole award would be looked at and I could lose daily living award (which is ridiculous as I'd just been awarded by the Tribunal who made the DWP apologise as it shouldn't have got to Tribunal).

Thank you so much it’s hard to remind yourself of that . Then when you see posts about them wanting so much evidence of the illness it’s like I thought this was about how your affected not the name . Idk x
