PIP ends before motability. How does this work?

hi, my PIP award ends on the 14th February 2027. My hand back date for my motability car is February 21st 2026. Although on the home page it says march 2026. I can apply for a new vehicle on the 21st November. However this will mean I have less that 12 months left on my PIP and the won’t even have initiated my PIP review.
I will ring motability and the DWP tomorrow ( given my mental health I am confident I will be awarded again as I’ve been on PIP for 6 years.
does anyone know what happens to my car? Will I be without any transport from the hardback date set by motability? Or will they allow me to keep my car until my appeal has been initiated - and ultimately I am awarded another 3+ years?
Thank you ever so much.

Hi,
The 12 months rule has been scrapped for people already on the scheme. You can order your new car with 11 months to go.
(For anyone else reading, this does not apply to new Motability customers, they still need 12 months remaining in order to join the scheme)
