If WCA is abolished, how do people apply for LCW and new styled ESA?

    @AndrewHall , I’m a disabled person just as anxious as you… Honestly, who knows what the law might be in 2028?

    LCW won't exist if these changes go through. It already doesn't pay any extra money for those awarded since 2017.

    There will be a new 'Health Element' in UC to replace LCWRA. That will automatically be applied to people who receive PIP daily living. There won't be a choice of having that element without PIP.

    New Style ESA will be replaced by a new 'Unemployment Insurance Benefit' which will most likely be decided on fit notes instead of having to go through any assessment. That will be time limited, and people will be expected to apply for PIP if they are still limited by health health conditions when it runs out.

    So far these are not set in stone and could still change.
