Credits-Only NS ESA Claim

Hi,
How do we know which type of NI credits we're getting?
I applied for NS ESA, knowing I would be refused payments, in order to keep getting the credits for if/when I lose UC in future due to capital.
I received the ESA letter today, saying they can't pay me any NS ESA due to lack of contributions (exactly as expected) but it also just says 'we may give you credits' which isn't very helpful!
I've checked the Government Gateway but that just shows how many weeks/years of credits I have. It doesn't show which type they are or which ones I'm getting now.
Telephoning ESA isn't an option for me. Just wondered if there's any other way that I can find out whether I'm now on the Class 1 ESA credits, instead of the Class 3 UC credits?
Thanks in advance

HMRC via the gateway can send you statements showing which NI Credits you were awarded for every week in every year.

Thanks for that. Can you remember where the option is as I can't see it on mine?
Also how quickly does it update? Ideally I need to know within a few weeks.

Hi again, I'm sorry, I assumed it would allow you that request!
I rang them which I know you can't do. There must be another way to do this 🤔
I was sent paper statements within 5 to 10 days each time.

Thanks, @WhatThe & @OverlyAnxious!
Both your comments sparked my curiosity, and I’ve just managed to check NI credits for the first time through the iOS HMRC app. Thank You 🙏🏽
It’s listed under the section:
‘National Insurance contributions’ – (screenshot attached, see circled area).
From there, you can ‘View your National Insurance contributions and check for any gaps’ by selecting ‘Check contributions.’
Note: This redirects you to a browser page(looks like the one you see when you login via Government Gateway)that provides a detailed breakdown, just as @WhatThe pointed out.1 -
@noonebelieves Does that show you which type of credits you're getting? I wonder if the phone app works differently to the laptop version. This is all I can see on the laptop.

@OverlyAnxious ,I can only see exactly what you see, including the exact amounts contributed via PAYE. I guess you may need to contact HMRC via online chat to find out the type of NI credits?

Why should you claim New Style Employment and Support Allowance?
Your (or your partner’s) savings will not affect how much New Style ESA you’re paid. If your partner works, it does not affect your claim.
Most income is not taken into account (but a personal pension can affect the amount you may receive).
While you receive New Style ESA you’ll earn Class 1 National Insurance credits, which can help towards your State Pension and other contributory benefits in the future.
It is a regular fortnightly payment.
This table shows what you may be able to claim depending on your circumstances.
