I won my case

Hi everyone, just to let you know after nearly 7 months of heartache, stress, anxiety and many tears, I have won my case against the DWP/PIP as they have now admitted that they mis-managed my case.
I'm getting compensation and all those months back dated.
I feel vindicated at last

Congratulations :) That must be a weight off your mind to have it resolved :)
I think when I got my PIP tribunal result, after a year of fighting them, I just sat on my bed and cried lol.1 -
How awesome to hear! Congratulations, @activeadventurer2025!
I’m so pleased that you’ve received a fair and just outcome at the tribunal.
If you’re comfortable sharing, would you mind letting us know what the tribunal was about-was it a PIP or UC benefits decision?
I’m just curious because I’m currently awaiting a DWP UC benefits appeal hearing date from the SSCS/HMCTS panel, and hearing about positive outcomes would give me some reassurance. I’m feeling extremely anxious about my case.

After scoring 0 points on a an application I made in 2023, I was told my case didn't meet the criteria for the health issues I had. I didn't appeal it at the time as they "DWP" told me I had no case to appeal. In June 2024 I made a new application and again I was automatically denied. So I made an appointment to see my local C.A.B (citizens advice bureau)
I then was told to immediately appeal the decision. Since then i was playing ping pong with letters, emails and conversing with my GP and theyre so called Nurses. I then was sent a letter implying that the medical information they received was incorrect!!
So, then I wrote a strong worded email to them, letting them know that I was fully prepared to go to see a solicitor to get advice.
With that, a tribunal then happened and it was daunting. I got questioned the same kind of questions in a different way and the panel kept flipping from one question to another on a many points / specifically around planning and following a journey and mixing with people and the absences that I suffer from.
I would recommend you to keep calm and keep your composure. Tell them as hard as you can how bad it gets on your daily routine and how it affects your life. It’s stressful and I hated every minute as i felt intimidated. However, the so called Doctor, DWP Investigation Team & Nurse were all agreed my health is deteriorating. Good luck, don't lose hope and keep your answers concise.

I too cried, but I knew I was vindicated after having to fight the DWP and show them my health had deteriorated.

Thanks Holly. I have to say it has taken a toll on me, what with the emotion and aggravation it has caused me

Thank you for sharing the hurdles you had to go through to finally be awarded your PIP. It’s disheartening that people with long-term conditions have to fight so hard for the support they’re entitled to, but I’m so glad your case had a positive outcome in the end.
I’m currently appealing a DWP decision-not for PIP, but similar to your experience, they also tried to have my appeal “struck out” by falsely claiming I hadn’t even made a mandatory reconsideration request, despite having clear evidence to the contrary. It often feels like they try to shut us down before we even reach the tribunal stage, likely because they know their decision won’t hold up under scrutiny.
Thank you for sharing your experience and for the helpful advice. I’m so pleased for you and admire your determination to fight for what you rightfully deserve!0 -
The first thing you need to do is not give up, because this is what they want you to do! Second to this, you need to threaten them with legal action and tell them that you have a full and valid case and you will take it as far as it needs to go, and if that means a court arena? Then that is what you do!! At this stage, they will then normally back down.
Good luck :-)

@activeadventurer2025 I can't begin to imagine what it's been like, and for so long as well. You must be so relieved. I hope you're planning to do something nice for yourself now it's over! You definitely should. 💛

Yes, i want to say that i should be able to relax, but i will never relax because i know how they operate and i will keep my guard up

You’re right, @activeadventurer202…I’m not one to give up when it comes to the DWP(although that’s exactly what they want me to do). Thankfully, my SSCS/HMCTS appeal is still open, and I’ve submitted all the necessary evidence to HMCTS to challenge the DWP’s statement and position outlined in the Legal Officer’s directions notice. Now, I’m just waiting to hear back on the outcome.
Thanks for your advice & motivation .much appreciated!🙏🏽
