Council tax benefit

Hi, I been told thst I need to migrate from ESA support group to universal credit. Do I have to apply for coucil tax benefit? Also due to my disabilities, I am not able to work. Does being moved to universal credit mean that I have to find a job? I have have asked these questions to the DWP and have answers saying yes and no on both accounts. I must admit I'm extremely worried about this move. Thank you.

hi and welcome to the community unfortunately I can't help you with this subject but what I can do is recommend the coffee lounge for a general chat or the games den if it's fun you are after

As you are in the Support Group you are entitled to LCWRA from the start of your claim. This means once everything is confirmed you'll have no work commitments.
Are you already receiving Council Tax benefit?

Hi, thanks for your answer, it's a relief. I'm already receiving council tax support.

Some areas treat UC income differently to legacy benefits, this means some people have seen the amount they need to pay towards CT increase.
Council Tax Reduction is decided on at a local level and each area runs a different scheme. This means we can't advise on individual cases from here.
When you apply for UC, they should let your council know but it's a good idea to inform them yourself also. Your CTR will be recalculated based on your UC award.
