Making a loss on self employment earnings - how will my Universal Credit be affected?
Hi there, we currently recieve UC with LCWRA for my partner, i am self employed but also his carer, this will be the first time since being on UC that i have made a loss in my self employment earnings since being on UC, when i report my earnings this assessment period are our UC Payments likely to increase at all for the next payment period or just stay the same. ?
Many thanks for your help :)

Hi,
I assume you're getting the Carers Element?
In that case, the minimum income floor shouldn't be applied to your claim. So you won't lose any money for earnings under that amount. But I don't believe you'll gain any either. You should already be getting the maximum allowance of couples rate, LCWRA and CE without any deductions unless you normally earn above the work allowance threshold?

Hi there, thankyou for your help :) yes i get carers allowance, no never earn over the work allowance threshold. Its coming up to filling in my income report form for this period, and wasnt sure what happened when it would show as a loss for this period. Thankyou for clearing that up for me :)

You're welcome.
Just for reference, Carers Element is a totally different benefit to Carers Allowance.
Carers Element is part of Universal Credit.
Carers Allowance is a benefit in it's own right.
