Books….. 📚🪱 What do people like reading?

I’ve got an eclectic taste, Buddhism, Autobiographies, War History, Various Sports - Motorsport, Rugby Union, Cricket, Football, Rugby, Hiking etc. I want to add the Harry Potter set to the collection, alongside Enid Blyton’s Secret Seven & The Famous Five, plus a few Terry Pratchett as well. I’ve got a huge list on Amazon, would probably come at over a thousand pounds for what I’ve got listed 🤦♂️

Crikey! You are an avid reader!
I just finished The Kellerby Code by Jonny Sweet. Good story but not a great writing style so next i think i will go for a more established classic.
Just watched both Great Gatsby films so that could be my next book
I only manage 3 or 4 books each year. Last year i re-read The Kite Runner and for the first time A Thousand Splendid Suns. Both by the same author. Totally harrowing.
I do like to be harrowed now and again🤣

I read pretty randomly - I've always been a quick reader but deciding what to read depends on my mood a lot, my concentration level, and whether it's going to emotionally damage me (because I cannot handle those kinds of books, they literally eat at me for weeks and months and not in a good way).
I stopped reading for fun a lot while I was studying but now I am back to doing it again which is nice. I have a lot of non fiction on my audible - I use this mostly when my brain is not wanting to focus or let me sleep, as a distraction in which I also learn stuff :) I find it hard to do that with fiction though, so I physically read fiction and listen to non-fiction.
I haven't read either of Khaleid Hosseini (I can never spell this right)'s books but I know they are popular :)
I also have a couple of series of books which a colleague recommended me on my kindle. I prefer physical books but it's easier for me to take the kindle to work. My lunch break is usually me, food and kindle having a moment to decompress :)0 -
probably about 26 years worth of collecting books there in that small pile. I read the full Harry Potter collection in a month many years ago, think it would take me the next 40 years to read that pile, if I keep collecting, the floor will have to be strengthened 😂😂
Reading was always a coping strategy, when I was in junior school my headmistress and teachers told me if I wasn’t in a good place to go and sit in the library and read a book and it’s kind of stuck, always have one in my bag if I’m on the bus I take it out and just read.

sounds like you cherry pick from book to book depending which one way the wind blows.
I’ve got that many on so many different topics, sometimes I wouldn’t know where to start. Two books I’ve got on my coffee table are Robin Williams Autobiography and Patch Adam’s Autobiography to.
My Mum said to me once, why don’t you get rid of your gardening book’s, you don’t do it anymore. Fair to say I said nope! Bought them when I was studying Horticulture 25 years ago and still have them.

You did better than me with the name of the author @Amaya_Ringo 🤣
He is from Afganistan originally but has lived in America for a long time. Those 2 books just take you to a wretched feeling where your gut is wrenched hollow!
But it does make you feel grateful for your own life for sure.
