DPOs (Disabled People’s Organisations) is a legitimate and widely recognised term within the disability rights movement, not something people just use to sound important. Social media, despite its risks, is a powerful tool for spreading awareness and mobilising action. Dismissing differing views only stagnates progress. It’s time to focus on constructive action and real change, not doubt and dismissal.
You asked. "Tell the person who wrote that post to not use abbreviations, thanks!" - I most certainly won’t be telling anyone what to do. I merely suggested that using full names alongside abbreviations might help with clarity. Ultimately, how members choose to communicate is entirely up to them, and that choice should remain theirs.
You state "We'll never find out what's dodgy about the Green Paper if members continue to use this thread as a chatroom, will we?" —-The 'dodgy' proposals are already here!, rushed consultations and plans that undermine essential protections. Our role isn’t to search for flaws, but to hold ministers accountable and highlight the harm these proposals will cause.
By working together, we significantly increase our chances of being heard. We have far more that unites us than divides us.

Catherine I’ve read all your posts in this thread before I answered you, and honestly, there’s nothing for you to worry about. You’ve done an amazing job raising awareness with MPs and Ministers, and you’ve done absolutely nothing wrong! I’ve been really impressed by your efforts, in fact, you even inspired me to write more letters.

We still don't know who is behind this "new DPO".
My role is to point out flaws in past legislation and regulations because they matter now more than ever! That's the only way of holding sitting MP's responsible for the harm they have caused and will continue to cause.

I’ll leave you to your role of pointing out flaws in past legislation, as that’s clearly where you see the most value. In the meantime, I will continue focusing on holding current MPs accountable for the harm they’re causing now in 2025. I have already acknowledged the risks of social media, but I am sure you will agree the most important thing is that it’s all about using it responsibly, staying vigilant, and double-checking information from reliable sources. The responsibility lies with all of us to ensure it’s used for good.

I honestly don’t know how you do it -even on days when your mental health is really fragile, when you’re running on empty, you’re still firing off emails to MPs, APPGs, Lords, Angela Rayner, Debbie Abrahams, the Baroness, even Starmer himself. 😳You’ve also contacted every legal route possible -it’s truly incredible. But what’s even more inspiring is that you always share the responses too, turning it into something empowering, educational, and collective. That’s such a powerful thing to do -and it helps so many of us feel a little less alone, a little more hopeful.
Among a few truly inspiring voices, you’ve been a real source of motivation-not just for me personally, but for many others too. On days I’ve even struggled to get out of bed, been in pain, had falls -People like you have virtually checked in on me, lifted me up, made me feel seen. But it has never been said that one cannot edit their comment without realising that someone else read their comment before they had edited it, as saccadic eye movements, often called jumps of the eyes, can indeed reach speeds of up to 700 degrees per second.
