Thankful to the fire brigade service - a bad day

Today I had a bath, and felt something crack as the bath lift was going down, I thought it was a flap as cracks were appearing on the flaps.
As I tried to lift the bath seat there was a crunch sound, it then went lop sided and then fell down, luckily it didnt fall far as it barely got me up.
But I was stuck for about 2 and half hours, 999 told me 4 hours for an ambulance. but my neighbour heard me shouting for help and rang the fire brigade instead, and instead of asking a million questions like the ambulance service did they came very fast.
In the end 6 people had to hoist me out, and I think they were very kind, given my predicament, as I had carers before I was already used to people seeing my body, so I accepted everyone seen everything. But yeah now got no bath lift its broken, the fire brigade referred me again for an occupational therapist.

@worried33 oh no that's not a very good day for you, glad you got rescued. Hopefully you get a better bath seat then the last one

I feel a lot more vulnerable again now, like when I was under care. Thank you for your kind words.
I got no idea what will happen moving forward, I prefer to not have to move, but if they decide I need a wet room or something I might have to.

Your neighbour really did the right thing in calling the fire brigade, they’re just the people for situations like that. Two and a half hours must have felt like such a long time to be stuck, and I hope you didn’t get too cold while you were there. Wishing you a relaxing evening, and let's hope the occupational therapist can sort something out for you soon. Sending you a virtual hug, it must have been a very upsetting situation for you. xx

Won't the council install a wet room? Mine did 2 odd years ago, and it has made such a difference.
They also gave me a wash/dry toilet. The OT visit got the ball rolling, so make sure you ask your OT!

What a dreadful experience for you (or anyone else in a similar situation). Thanks to your kind neighbour for thinking of the Fire Brigade to assist you and it is such a shame that resources did not enable an Ambulance crew to assist you. It is little comfort to you but at least the call handler advised you from the outset that the wait would be four hours for an Ambulance, although that is of little 'help' when you are stuck, cold and presumably wet.
I hope that O.T. can get out to you quickly to resolve the issue but guess, it will be a wait not only for O.T. to come and assess your needs but no doubt have a wait whilst the whole thing is processed and actioned.
It is such a shame that people have to endure these set backs and indignities whether you are 'used' to them or not. I wish you well after your ordeal and really hope that the matter is resolved quickly. Good luck!

I think I will need landlord approval, I am privately renting, but I am expecting to be told now a bath seat will no longer be suitable.

Sorry you went through that @worried33 that's not nice at all. Hope you're doing okay. Fingers crossed the OT can get something suitable sorted quickly.
