I am really concerned about future of Atw. I personally believe that the government will abolished this services or reduce this. What are other people thoughts on this matter?

Hi @aleem sorry you've not had a response to this. It's completely understandable why you feel like that. The delays in payment have really impacted businesses from what I've seen. With that being said, I'd like to think the Government will always ensure there's something in place to support people with work access. There are other charities and organisations that offer support too thankfully.

I never saw Access to Work as viable due to the long, paper based application process. And that was back in 2019.

I fully expect the Red Tories to evantually close the scheme because they don't actually want disabled people having fulfilling careers.

Any disabled person who wants to work needs to learn to manage without AtW IMO, even if that means not having a job.

I was horrified to see that businesses that had reached out to employ disabled people were facing administration and meltdown because of the delays in ATW payments.

I got my job without any external help, the hard way, so I've never applied for ATW and don't know what the wait is like, but it seems like it's suffering from the same backlog as the claims for PIP and reviews and such. Not enough staff or funding to do what it is there to do, ultimately.

I'm lucky that I don't need physical workplace adaptions and I also have two amazing team leaders who are receptive to conversations about adjustments if and when they arise. Mostly for me it's my work schedule and certain tasks I don't do because of my executive function (like banking), but because they're always open to dialogue, I find it easy to raise any issues I have with them.

It's not like that for every employee, disabled or otherwise.
